John,
I was hoping for more on how to avoid them and not just what they are :-)

>On the other hand, when I find something that matches the goals I have set for myself, I’m discovering a whole new world of information that can really be useful.

That's my problem. I am an information junkie and I could spend all my time learning new things related to my goals. But I know I don't need to learn more I need to DO more to reach my goals.

Hey, I got a mention without even trying! lol

John, you hit upon part of my problems at times. It doesn't matter whether it's TV or videos on even just email, there are always a lot of distractions. Music seems to be the one thing that doesn't distract me, yet these days I don't listen to enough music, which I also don't listen to enough and need to because it does often make me feel better.

I'm going to say this; don't get yourself trapped into the mindset of self flagellation. You're allowed to go off the grid every once in awhile and participate in something that makes you feel good in some fashion that doesn't have to contribute to your being better. I've had to learn that one myself, and I'll admit it's hard to do. I still sit at my computer way too much, but I'm trying to step away in the evenings at least an hour before I'm actually going to go to bed, pop on the TV, and watch something stupid or pop in a video to enjoy that. I know I need just a bit more balance in my overall life.

Good morning, Sire.

Nope. Last week was the first time I ever saw Sanctuary and I loved it.

I think that checking on comments, emails, tweets, and similar things can easily become distractions if they stop you from doing your primary work.

I'm always happy to distract you, Sire! ;)

All the best,

JD

I can't believe you've never seen Sanctuary? That's a brilliant episode and I love Amanda Tapping, although I never knew that was her name.

My main problem isn't distraction so much as it's the necessity to constantly check the Internet to see if anything new has happen, whether it be a comment, an email or a Tweet, then again perhaps that is a distraction :D

See, checking my Tweets led me to this post and had taken me away to what I was supposed to be doing, paperwork and now my tea is probably cold. Thanks for the distraction John ;)
