You make a good point about people not necessarily being excited to see you, even if you are not a negative influence. Taking the extra step to be more outgoing and positive is often difficult for people who do not already have that type of personality, but it may be worth the effort. Having said that, I do have to clarify. When I'm around people I know, they absolutely energize me with their elation in seeing me; seems most people think I stay kind of hidden, so they're happy to see me out and about.
