Good afternoon, Mitch.

No, without a digital signal, TV is unwatchable now.

I've got an antenna and a good signal booster, but it's not good enough reception to pick up a digital signal, which is much picker than an analog one.

With analog, you can watch a suboptimal signal, but with digital, it's basically a good signal or no signal.

I'm roughly 100 miles from 5 different cities with TV stations. Here, I have been able to get only Chattanooga stations. I tell people that I get (got) 2.5 stations.

Except when the weather conditions were just right, the reception ranged from rather snowy to unwatchable. Similarly, the sound faded in and out.

But, it was handy when bad storms were approaching or when there was important breaking news.

I also miss watching PBS - which I was able to see some of the time. I don't think anyone gives interviews as well as Charlie Rose and Tavis Smiley.

Channel 12 (CBS) ceased analog transmissions on the original cut-off date a few months ago. Channel 9 (ABC) cut off yesterday morning.

PBS and Channel 3 (NBC) are periodically broadcasting informational programs about switching to digital, but I'm sure that won't last long.

No TV here - except for watching movies I rent from Netflix.

I don't think it will be as bad as I thought it would be.

All the best,

Hi John,

Whether you miss it or not, it's always been a good thing to have it, even just for emergency times when you can go grab some quick information about something.

Actually, I'd heard that your main stations should still be able to be pulled in, even without digital, with an antenna; that's not working either?
